Sheriff Ronnie Fields was born and raised in Carthage, North Carolina. He has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and has a deep knowledge of state and local government. He has dedicated his adult life to public service. Sheriff Fields started out as a volunteer with the Carthage Rescue Squad from 1976 to 1987. He proudly served as a Deputy with the Moore County Sheriff's Office from 1983 to 1987. He then left to further his law enforcement career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Sheriff Fields wore the uniform from 1987 until 2009 when he returned to his roots at the Moore County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Fields provided safety and security to the citizens of Moore County until his retirement in 2013. Sheriff Fields retired as the 3rd highest rank within the Sheriff's office, Major.
Sheriff Fields was elected to the Carthage Town Board in 1999 where he proudly served his hometown for ten years as Town Commissioner and Mayor. Sheriff Fields is a past President of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association and is currently an active member of the organization. Sheriff Fields and wife Renee enjoy time with their four grandchildren and time with friends and family. Sheriff Fields is an active member of the Moore County Republican Men's Club and was a past Precinct Chair of the Carthage Republican Party.
Sheriff Ronnie Fields emphasizes teamwork and integrity within the office and demands our staff to serve at the highest level in portraying moral and ethical traits. Sheriff Fields is a sheriff that works tirelessly for our citizens in the attempt to decrease criminal activity and eliminate illegal drugs in Moore County. He works with citizens to educate on drug awareness, promote community watch programs, and places heavy emphasis on community policing in an effort to involve and include all of Moore County Citizens.
